E-xact Transactions Ltd. is looking for a MySQL DBA star who understands the challenges of a very large production MySQL cluster environment, can manage replication, understand redundancy and the needs of a 24/7 environment. If this describes you then please respond.

The ideal candidate must have:

• Analyze and Architect the MySQL database infrastructure for our financial transaction processing environment to determine sustainability, scalability and redundancy over several years.
• Optimize our configuration schema to increase performance and sustain our growth on an ongoing basis.
• Optimize internal MySQL configuration settings to optimize throughput and performance on our databases.
• Work with the development team to make sure their code is optimized for integration with the database structure.
• Make suggestions to our development team on better ways to store data.
• Manage outsourced on-call MySQL DBA functions for 24/7/365 uptime.
• Understanding of DB replication, backup, recovery, and optimization techniques.
• Understanding of how high volume can affect database availability and table design.
• Understanding of Linux systems administration.
• Prior experience developing website software using LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Ruby/Rails).

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience managing significant MySQL installations required.
• Experience architecting MySQL in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with 24/7/365 production systems required.
• Understanding of MySQL internal workings and how it interacts with storage.
• Must be able to produce metrics (charts/graphs/numbers) relating to database storage growth, system performance, etc.
• Must be an energetic person who enjoys working in a fast moving, high paced environment.
• Must possess ability to work with minimal to no supervision.

Other requirements:

• Strong communication skills.
• Able to review and estimate query cost.
• Participate in design reviews.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and drive projects to completion.
